About the image
This is Ubuntu 6.06 ("Dapper Drake"), for desktop usage. In addition to the full Ubuntu installation, it contains many updates and some additional applications (see the README file below for details). Have fun!
From the README file:
- This image was created on a Debian Sarge host system, under Qemu 0.8.2 (from CVS; qemu-snapshot-2006-06-16_23.tar.bz2)
- It is a default installation of Ubuntu Dapper, from the official installation CD (ubuntu-6.06-desktop-i386.iso). The usual applications (Gnome, Firefox...) are installed. All updates as of 2006-06-17 are applied. The universe and multiverse repositories have been added, and multimedia packages (gstreamer-codecs, MPlayer) and Java packages are installed. The evtouch driver for Qemu usb tablet is installed.
- Locale is set to English (the default); keyboard is set to American English (also the default); this can be changed in System -> Administration -> Language Support, and in System -> Preferences -> Keyboard. Timezone is set to Berlin (GMT + 2); this can be changed in System -> Administration -> Time and Date.
- Login/Password : freeoszoo/freeoszoo
Note about "root" access
There is no "root" account in a standard Ubuntu installation - instead, you can use the "sudo" command to gain root permissions. If sudo asks for a password, enter your normal user password (which is "freeoszoo" in this case).
