Vandalism protection is a great idea but... Could I have the right to modify FLOZ page? ;-) -- MG55 14:59, 8 March 2007 (CET)
Oh...going to fix it soon. Sorry! :-) User:Stefano

NOTE to the one who used IP 80.200.0.171 on 2006-06-17 @ 20:50 CEST
You deleted part of the FLOZ page without a reason. Since I'm the only one developing this project for the moment, I think NO OTHER ONE has the right to modify that page without identifying himself and telling why he wants to do that. If you want to collaborate, you are greatly welcome, but you have to say WHO you are and you should collaborate, not delete. Next time, propose your modifications here. I don't want to restrict modification to registered users, don't force me to do so. -- MG55 17:24, 18 June 2006 (CEST)

VNC Viewer???
I tried connecting to connessi.webminds.cs.unibo.it:5901 (display was reported to be 1 on the FLOZ page). Am I doing this correctly?
Well.. Plan9 doesn't work well in the Free Live OS Zoo. It is totally a mess after entering the GUI. -- Zero
- What do you mean by "totally a mess"? When it changes resolution the screen remains unreadable for a bit, then it loads the GUI and works fine (using Firefox 1.5 with Sun JVM 1.5 on Linux, also tried Blackdown 1.4.2). If you say there are too many windows, you're right, but I haven't learned yet how to use this OS, and I also want to set resolution to a lower value (800x600 for example). Tell me what's the problem. -- MG55
- Oh.. You're right, I think it was just a network problem. Since I come from taiwan, speed is very slow.;p The problem I met is the screen remains unreadable for a long while. I re-tried it today, it just works fine now! BTW, when will you release this virtualization software, it's really cool!-- Zero
- As said on the page, I'm finishing writing my Thesis. After graduation, heavy development is still to be done on FLOZ (e.g. I want to embed code for image networking support through user networking stack inside the applet), so I don't know if the code will be relased before these updates. Basically, FLOZ is PHP code which interfaces to QEMU and (for networking) VDE --MG55 20:48, 15 June 2006 (CEST)

Ist the main page the only page of this project??? I don't see links to other pages, like the list of the suported OS, hardware requirements, limitations, ...
- For the moment, info about FLOZ should be found here. If you want something in particular, feel free to ask. The list of supported OS? If you mean the OS you can test with, they are on the page. If you mean the OS you need to run FLOZ, infos were strangely removed by someone (see above). I'm putting everything back. In the future, FLOZ appearance will be improved, but the main source for information about FLOZ will continue to be this page. -- MG55 17:15, 18 June 2006 (CEST)
IP-Logging
How long are IPs logged? 134.130.4.46 17:06, 27 June 2006 (CEST)
- I set up a log file, and I'll configure the server to manage it with logrotate. So IPs are logged as long as possible, this was an explicit request by Renzo Davoli. MG55 11:42, 28 June 2006 (CEST)
Page URL
AFAIK Free Live OS Page is linking to the wrong URL; had it bookmarked from Digg. Seems to be missing an 8 from the port number (880 but should be 8880) but it's not letting me edit the page so that can be fixed. You may want to correct this.
Is the site down?
I think the site might be down? or is it on my end?
- Indeed, there's some problem in FLOZ. I've put it offline now, I'll fix it ASAP. --MG55 22:08, 18 November 2006 (CET)
Can I ask what happened?
- I don't know exactly. The web server took long time to respond, even after killing all running QEMU instances. I tried now and the server seemed better, I'll check everything tomorrow. --MG55 01:38, 19 November 2006 (CET)
- OK, it wasn't "tomorrow", sorry ;-). I reduced the number of allowed QEMU instances to 3. I'll see if I can raise it back. --MG55 11:24, 24 November 2006 (CET)
Still not working? Any ideas of when it will be?
Logging In
I am having trouble logging in. I know the password but what is the user name for the OS's? I'm trying out Ubuntu and Fedora.
"Unless otherwise specified, all images are set for us keyboard and have a root user with passwd “piripicchio” and applet size will be 725x485" ... so the user name would be "root" without the quotes :)
yes the user name is root 72.68.62.127 22:31, 25 November 2006 (CET)
I posted the above question. Fedora worked fine, and I could type in "root" with Ubuntu but when I tried to type the password, it wouldn't work.
It's a shame!!! :((
It's a shame that people cant leave the f****** front FLOZ page alone. I wanted to change it and correct it (Should be port 8880 not 880) to connect, but people have to mess with it, and now people that try to help cant.
Why do people have to be so immature?
- You're right. It's a real shame. Nobody's making money out of FreeOsZoo (or FLOZ) and people is using it for study, for experimenting, etc.
I'll try to unprotect it, meanwhile I'll be correcting it. Let's hope things will go better... Stefano 10:53, 26 November 2006 (CET)
Usage and Help
There really needs to be a link to some sort of terms of use or rules and help page so that people know what is what is expected of them(i don't see any such link here or on the main page), what they are and are not allowed to do. for your and your users safety. also thanks its a cool idea --sai_rabbit
FLOZ relaunch
Is there a date/ rough guesstimate when the FLOZ will be available again? I can't find a list of images which were available. If the OLPC image wasn't available, I'd like to see it on here as I think that would be a great resource. Thanks, Rob
- As you can see, we're back online ;-) For the moment, the list of available FLOZ images is independent from the images available on oszoo.org, but plans are to 'synchronize' them; FLOZ main page shows what images are currently available. In particular, OLPC is physically present on the FLOZ machine, but unavailable since it doesn't work (boot fails with a "Error 15: File not found" error). Maybe I'll retry with a newer version (the one we have is build 1017, 2006-06-22). -- MG55 11:02, 5 June 2007 (CEST)
- There is now a OLPC live CD image available. It is slow, but works ;-) -- MG55 11:13, 11 June 2007 (CEST)
No more VNC displays available
I get a "No more VNC displays available" error every time I try to start a FLOZ image. What should I do?
- There is a cronjob that periodically kills inactive images, but crond is currently down. We'll fix it soon, and run the job manually meanwhile. -- MG55 11:15, 11 June 2007 (CEST)
Some OSes not working
OLPC: It says that /init was found (initramfs bug), and drops me to a shell.
Ubuntu: Messy console screen, no X and stuck keys(1)
Solaris: Console, again?
(1) I didn't noticed this on Fedora image.
My configuration: Firefox 2.0.0.5 (won't auto-upgrade, file replace error) + WinXP + J2PSE 5.0+6
Is the Free Live OS Zoo dead?
Every time I try to access the Free Live OS Zoo, I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" or otherwise a "Failed to Connect" message from Firefox. This begs the question: Is the Free Live OS Zoo dead?
Please respond ASAP. Thanks.
